Transfection of primary cells, such as Human Hair Follicle Dermal Papilla Cell (HFDPC), has always been challenging, both technically and financially. The most common systems currently used for relatively efficient molecular delivery to these cells are expensive electroporation instruments. However, electroporation usually leads to cell death, primarily when the electrical fields cause permanent permeabilization of the membrane and the consequent loss of cell homeostasis, in a process known as irreversible electroporation.

Human Hair Follicle Dermal Papilla Cell (HFDPC) Avalanche® Transfection Reagent is a new class of unique chemical formulations specifically formulated and optimized for transfecting HFDPC. Cell Name: Human Hair Follicle Dermal Papilla Cell (HFDPC)

Human Hair Follicle Dermal Papilla Cells (HFDPC) are mesenchyme cells isolated from the hair papilla of normal human scalp hair follicles. HFDPC can be used for the development and evaluation of hair growth products. Hair papilla, in the adult hair follicle, plays a crucial role in the dermal-epidermal interactions that control hair production and events of the hair growth cycle. It has been shown that cultured HFDPC can stimulate hair growth when implanted into an amputated follicle. When used in a reconstitution model, HFDPC is an excellent tool for identifying cell populations within the hair follicle and studying the effects of specific gene products on hair follicle growth and development.

The Transfection Reagent Features:

Optimizations may include: the amount of DNA and this transfection reagent; cell density; transfection reagent/DNA ratio, or incubation time for the mixture of transfection reagent/DNA etc. For best transfection result, we recommend using the respective cell type/cell line specific Avalanche transfection reagents. Those reagents have been optimized on both recipes and protocols, and have been proved to have the best transfection results for the respective cell lines or primary cells.
